Eating Disorders & Body Image

Anyone, regardless of body size, gender identity, neurotype, or ability, can develop an eating disorder. It is also common that intersectionality of identities is present when dealing with an eating disorder. This is what can make it so difficult to find the right support in our weight-centered health care system.

Social & Health Advocacy

Our hearts hurt when we see it happen to others and feel the crushing weight of it when it happens to us. The barriers and violence caused by oppressive systems look to silence voices of change. Advocacy for either self or others humans takes energy and that energy needs recharging.

LGBTQ+

Queer and trans folks are facing an increasing amount of harm and violence due to blatant, hateful rhetoric from multiple platforms and changes in state laws. This is felt even more by our queer and trans siblings of color. All of this increases the rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidality for queer and trans folks.

Chronic Health Conditions

The pain and discomfort for those with chronic health concerns can lead to time dedicated to appointments, tests, lab work, medications, and changing daily routines. It can feel beyond frustrating, especially if health care providers do not or will not listen. Sometimes, it feels as though one becomes more of a list of symptoms than a person.

Neurodiverse

Our brains are wonderful in how they work, yet our society makes it harder to function if we don’t “fit in”. Neurodiverse folks find certain tasks and skills challenging at times, which leads to a lower quality of life. Especially in a world that can be overstimulating and unsupportive when burnout happens.

Life Transitions

Events in our lives can bring about joy and uncertainty. Sometimes we are prepared for these moments and sometimes they show up by surprise. When faced with a new transition in life, it can be challenging to do so alone.
